Right after the Kenya attack, Ronald Noble, the secretary-general of Interpol, which is a world version of the FBI and headquartered in Lyon, France, noted two means of protecting people from mass shootings.

CPRC in the New York Post: “The FBI’s bogus report on mass shootings”

12 Oct , 2014

John Lott’s newest piece in the New York Post discusses our recent study and starts this way:

It’s disheartening to see the FBI used to promote a political agenda, but that’s what we got with the bureau’s release last month of a study claim to show a sharp rise in mass shootings, a la Newtown, Conn.

The incredibly flawed FBI study on active shooters, CPRC original research

10 Oct , 2014

The figure using the FBI data pretty much summarizes their claim: from 2000 to 2013, fatalities from public shootings in the US have grown by an average annual rate of 16.4%. While the FBI report provides graphs illustrating “active shooting incidents,” not mass shootings, given the way that the report was written, the media has understandably interpreted the report as implying that mass public shootings have massively increased over time.…

CPRC at Fox News: “Michael Bloomberg’s anti-gun propaganda”

7 Oct , 2014

John Lott’s newest piece at Fox News starts this way:

Obama renews call for more gun control

17 Sep , 2014

A possible mass public shooting stopped by a concealed carry permit holder

13 Jul , 2014

It looks like four party goers happened upon some gang members. Fortunately, one of the victims had his permitted concealed handgun.  This dramatic defensive gun use got attention in Chicago, but if the permit holder hadn’t been at the scene, having multiple victims shot would have made national news. From the Chicago Tribune:

A Gresham man fired on a group of people leaving a party, only to be shot himself by one of the victims, a military service member with a concealed carry permit, authorities said.

CPRC at Fox News: What liberal media won’t tell you: School shooting deaths down, not up, across America

20 Jun , 2014

The Fox News piece starts this way:

Is there an epidemic of school shootings? Parents are understandably fearful, but their fear is unjustified. Schools are relatively safe places, and they have gotten much safer.

While even one death is too many, the number of children killed in school shootings has declined over the last couple of decades.
