On Monday, October 21st, Dr. John Lott will debate Pennsylvania state Senator Daylin Leach (D-Montgomery County) about Red Flag Laws and Universal Background Checks. The Federalist Society’s Criminal Law & Procedure Practice Group sponsored a debate between Dr. John Lott and the Heritage Foundation’s Amy Swearer on Red Flag Laws. While Swearer believes that Red Flag Laws need to be part of the process, Dr. Lott argues that it makes a lot more sense to use the Baker Act/302s that are already in place and have extensive civil rights protections as a starting point for any new proposals.…

…Steven “Destiny” Bonnell and Dr. John Lott debated gun control on the Red Elephants and Destiny youtube channels. Mr. Bonnell has a large following by young people on social media. While this was billed as a debate, it turned into more of a discussion than a debate.

In November, Scientific American published a longer letter by Dr. John Lott and a rebuttal to his letter online. In an earlier post, we provided a point-by-point rebuttal to Ms. Moyer’s claims. Lott had no control over what parts of his letter that Scientific American decided to use.
