With Montana Governor Greg Gianforte signing HB 102 into law on Thursday, February 18th, 2021, 2021, Montana now allows to open carry, carry concealed without a permit, or carry concealed with a CWP, in a bank, a restaurant with a liquor license, or a bar. Thirty-four states now also allow people to carry concealed in bars.…

On Friday, February 12th, Utah’s Governor Spencer Cox signed a bill making Constitutional Carry the law in Utah. On Thursday, February 18th, Governor Greg Gianforte’s first priority for this legislative session has been signing a Constitutional Carry/eliminating gun-free zone, and it is now on his desk.

UPDATED: 23 State Capitols Officially Allow Some Form Of Legal Firearm Carry. Soon that will be 25 states. At Least 4 Others Currently Allow In Practice.

CPRC has found that 23 State Capitols officially allow visitors, legislators, employees, or all of the above to carry guns legally. The New Hampshire state House is the most recent place to allow carrying permitted concealed handguns into legislative buildings.

By a 66-to-31 party-line vote, Montana’s state House just passed in January a bill that will allow people to carry in the state Capitol, and passage in the Republican Senate seems assured before the end of the month.…

Dr. John Lott and, our research director, Carlisle Moody have new research on the impact of Red Flag laws on homicides and suicides.

Abstract

Seventeen states have passed Red Flag or Extreme Risk Protection Order (ERPO) laws which allow police, family members, individuals living in the same residence, and others to file a petition for a court order temporarily seizing the firearms of persons accused to be a danger to themselves or others.
