From the St. Louis Post-Dispatch about an incident in North St. Louis County:
Police say three contractors for ADB Utility Co. were working on water lines near that intersection when an armed robber approached two of the workers who were standing near a company truck.
The robber took wallets from the two men, 49 and 58 years old, at gunpoint before turning his attention to a third man, 22, nearby, police said.

A South Carolina teenager left home alone used his mother’s gun to shoot and kill a burglar, authorities said Tuesday.
Fox Carolina reported that deputies responded to a report of shots fired at a home in Ladson Tuesday shortly before 2 p.m. EST Tuesday. When they arrived, they found the unidentified 13-year-old boy and asked him to come out of the home.
North Carolina woman defends herself from two armed men who started firing as soon as they broke into her home. They shot her twice, but she was able to keep her baby safe.
Semantha Bunce, 21, a combat medic in the National Guard, was in her Charlotte home breast-feeding her 4-month-old son in her bedroom when intruders barged in Tuesday, November 3, according to CNN affiliate WSOC.

A robbery was thwarted at a Southwest Side corner store Saturday night when a patron with a concealed carry license shot and killed an armed robber . . .
The dead man has been identified as Reginald Gildersleeve, 55, of the 5000 block of South California Avenue, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Armed bank robbery stopped (Monday night, September 21, 2015):
. . . The 43-year-old assailant entered the bank with a gun and had procured “a large amount” of cash from the bank when, on the way out, he appears to have threatened a 63-year-old customer with his gun, according to Fouts.

David Roberts, a concealed handgun permit holder, prevented a fleeing robber from running over 66-year-old Betty Jones. Both the woman who was about to be run over and an Evansville police captain. From the Tristate newspaper in Evansville, Illinois:
