The BBC on the Taylor Woolrich story

This past August the CPRC co-sponsored and organized a conference for Students for Concealed Carry.  The first speaker was Taylor Woolrich.  Her story is continuing to make a difference in explaining to people why it is important that stalking victims have the right to be able to defend themselves.  From the BBC:

A former beauty pageant contestant from California, 20-year-old Taylor Woolrich is the first to admit she’s not your usual guns rights campaigner.

CPRC at Fox News: The facts about Dartmouth student Taylor Woolrich and her stalker

The CPRC’s John Lott has a piece up at Fox News to try to correct the record after Geraldo Rivera’s interview on Fox News last week:

It is often very hard for women who have been victims of sexual type crimes to publicly discuss what has happened to them. Last week in Washington, five women came forward to discuss how gun free zones at colleges have prevented them from defending themselves.

Two of the issues raised in both of these segments were whether students should carry a gun for protection even if they aren’t allowed to do so and whether we can trust students to carry (videos also available here and here).…

Geraldo Rivera makes a complete mess of the Taylor Woolrich case on Fox News

Taylor’s case was discussed on Fox News this afternoon.

Unfortunately, Geraldo Rivera was on to discuss Taylor’s case and he was very ill informed about what was happening. Here are just five errors in his discussion.

1) Geraldo claims that Taylor is safe because Bennett will for certain be in jail for the next 4 years and she has nothing to worry about.…

Taylor Woolrich on NBC’s Today Show to discuss her desire to protect herself

This is a powerful discussion on NBC’s Today Show. Taylor did not appear live on the show, instead they used clips from her talk to the Students for Concealed Carry/Crime Prevention Research Center convention to make her points.
