Ann Coulter’s discussion of affirmative action for police

Ann Coulter’s newest article has a detailed discussion of CPRC’s John Lott research on hiring in police departments. A copy of Lott’s research is available here. Ann Coulter’s piece contains this:

I’m against more black people being murdered, raped and assaulted.

In a massive, detailed 2000 study of the effect of court-ordered affirmative action plans on police departments, economist John Lott found that the more minorities on a police force, the higher the rates of murder, manslaughter, violent crime, robbery and aggravated assault will be.

CPRC at the Daily Caller: “Violent Crime, Not Police Abuse, Is The Real Threat To Black Americans”

John Lott’s newest piece at the Daily Caller starts this way:

Yesterday’s “Nationwide Day of Rage for Ferguson,” demonstrations that were planned to protest police violence against blacks for the 51 cities across the U.S., was a bust. Is it possible that most blacks believe that violent crime, not the threat of police, is the real danger that threatens black Americans, particularly young black males?

Judge Jeanine: With me now, political commentator, author of seven books [actually eight] including More Guns, Less Crime, John Lott. Okay. More Guns, Less Crime. That is counter intuitive. What does that mean?

Lott: Just as you can deter criminals with higher arrest rates or conviction rates, the fact that victims can defend themselves can also deter criminals.

CPRC at Investor’s Business Daily: “The Police Should Carry Guns Off The Job To Protect Us”

The piece by John Lott at Investor’s Business Daily starts this way:

Unbelievably, some won’t even let police officers work for free. They object to them carrying guns when off-duty.

Gun-control advocates are so extremely fearful of guns, the NFL has banned off-duty police from carrying their guns inside stadiums. They really believe that the presence of guns, even those carried by off-duty police, pose an unacceptable danger.
