3 arrested in McDonald's parking lot robbery in Virginia Beach

This attack occurred at 9 PM in Virginia Beach, Virginia on Tuesday, January 26, 2016.  From WAVY.com:

Police have arrested three men in connection with a robbery that happened in the parking lot of a McDonald’s Tuesday night.

Police arrested 29-year-old Donte Tyree Salley, 23-year-old Darren Keith McCoy and 20-year-old Marcus Sean Turner in connection with the incident. . . .

Police say a dispute erupted between the victim and someone with the seller. The dispute escalated when the victim was punched in the head, causing him fall onto the pavement.

The men then robbed the victim of his cellphone — at which point he pulled out a gun and fired as self-defense against any assaults. . . .

Salley, McCoy and Turner left the scene in a silver sedan.

Officers arrested the three men during a traffic stop on Wednesday. . . .

    The local news reported that the victim fired at the suspects as they were running away. If true, then he’s lucky he missed. That is not self defense.

      So as long as they can escape outside for a getaway attempt, it’s not self-defense? I didn’t know self-defense stops at the door.
