Gun Owner Who Ended Manhunt: “I told him to get down”
Gaston, South Carolina April 23, 2016, WYFF News 4:
Police say it was a simple attempted traffic stop that turned into a high-speed chase.
“This chase started because Gaston police attempted to make a traffic stop on the two individuals due to a seat belt violation,” Capt. Adam Myrick with the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department said. “Actually, two of them – the passenger and the driver.” . . .
A homeowner, who wanted to remain anonymous, said the driver, Joseph Drafts, trespassed onto his property while fleeing from law enforcement personnel. It took the homeowner by surprise.
“I really just want to thank the Lord for keeping me and my family safe,” he said. “When the police told us there was a manhunt, we didn’t know if it was a manhunt because he was wanted for, you know, for what. We just knew he was in the area. We didn’t know why he was there.”
The homeowner said he dropped what he was working on, pulled out his gun and held Drafts at gunpoint. . . .

Concealed carry are activists willing to confront these criminals when everyone else will stand back and watch or wait for the police.
@WATCHDOG – The “activists” to whom you refer are law-abiding Americans who are subjected [arguably extra-Constitutionally] to background checks which assure law enforcement agencies and the federal government that they are “suitable” candidates for exercising a Constitutional right, often only after passing courses, written examinations, and one or more practical tests of their abilities to handle a firearm safely and within legal constraints (which vary widely by locale and change more frequently than liberals change their panties). These “activists” are common, everyday folks who would prefer that their own dead bodies not “…stand back and watch or wait for the police” to draw chalk outlines around their corpses or the corpses of those whose safety they take responsibility for assuring as best they can. After all, the law enforcement officers (LEOs) in which you place such trust are often far less trained in the safe and appropriate use of firearms than the citizens they serve. And remember, the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) has already ruled that LEOs have *no* duty to protect the citizens they supposedly serve; to believe otherwise only proves ignorance, which naïveté and a lack of education both support in spades!
Cogito, ergo armatus sum.
