Media Bias: Another bad outcome for a Concealed Handgun Permit Holder on a TV Show: Criminal takes a Civilian’s Concealed Handgun and Shoots at the Pursuer

Oct 23, 2024 | Media Bias

Unfortunately, television police shows always seem to have something go wrong with a concealed handgun permit holder, either being fatally shot by the criminal without stopping the crime, shooting the wrong person, getting in the way of the police, or, in this case, having his gun taken away by the criminal. Unfortunately, Apple TV’s new series Bad Monkey (Season 1 Episode 7, Sept 18, 2024) is no different. In that show, a criminal, KJ Claspers (played by Bob Clendenin), who just escaped from a police car, obtains a gun by stealing it from a civilian who is carrying it. He then uses it to shoot at Andrew Yancy (played by Vince Vaughn), who is trying to catch Claspers. Given that Vince Vaughn has been a defender of people’s right to carry concealed handguns, it is disappointing that they had him involved in such a storyline.

Dialogue:

Andrew Yancy (Vince Vaughn): Where did you get the gun?

KJ Claspers (Bob Clendenin): We got a lot in Florida. That gentleman behind me, he just lent me his.

Claspers had just beaten up the law-abiding civilian with a permitted concealed handgun and taken it from him.
