Nancy Pelosi on her support for declaring a national emergency on gun control

Feb 21, 2019 | Featured

Democrat House Speaker Nancy Pelosi talks about her desire to use a national emergency to enact gun control regulations. From February 14, 2019:

just think of what a president with different values can present to the American people.

You want to talk about a national emergency? Let’s talk about today, the one year anniversary of another manifestation of the epidemic of gun violence in America. That’s a national emergency. Why don’t you declare that emergency, Mr. President? I wish you would. But a Democratic president can do that. Democratic president can declare emergencies as well. So, the precedent that the President is setting here is something that should be met with great unease and dismay by the Republicans.

And of course, we will respond accordingly when we review our options. First we have to see what the President actually says.

Nancy, Sorry but you’re wrong. Building the wall for National Security isn’t a violation of our Constitutional Rights. If you and your idiot president declares a National Emergency and tries to take our guns, then we’ll give you a real National Emergency.

She’s a dingbat. All the gun regulations aim at restricting the legal gun owners while the criminals naturally don’t follow laws. You are making legal citizens more volnerable to crime only by gun control. How would a gun national emergency be carried out? You can’t do confiscation using the military because they swear an oath to defend the Constitution.

So is there really a question of whether Trump reduced crime in DC? Did the Washington Post inaccurately report murder data to make the drop look smaller than it actually is?

So is there really a question of whether Trump reduced crime in DC? Did the Washington Post inaccurately report murder data to make the drop look smaller than it actually is?

The Washington Post doesn't really want to give President Trump credit for the drop in crime in DC. Please look at the graph above and notice that there was a discrete change in August and September 2025 (and the change only started about half way through August on...
