CBS’s FBI and its related shows (FBI Most Wanted and FBI International) have a ridiculous number of errors regarding guns. Take this episode where the lead FBI agent asks if they can trace who has a gun through its design is just silly (Season 7, Episode 11, 02/11/25). Think of it this way. Suppose the shooter had a 9mm handgun or an AR-15, would the agent say can we trace the gun because of its design? Presumably not. Despite what the episode implies, whether the gun had a serial number would make absolutely no difference to the investigation at this point. Also the rate of fire by the gun is the same as any semi-automatic gun (though I would like to see how tired someone’s figure would be if they squeezed off 100 rounds in less than a minute).
