Tangle conducted individual interviews with the left wing Brennan Center’s Ames Grawert, The Manhattan Institutes’ Robert VerBruggen, and CPRC’s Dr. John Lott on the issue of whether crime is increasing. It would have been much more useful if everyone was in the same discussion so that Dr. Lott could respond directly to Grawert’s claims. Grawert focuses on the FBI reported crime data, claiming it is the gold standard. Discussions about why the FBI’s reported crime data differs from the Bureau of Justice Statistics data on both reported and total crimes would have been useful.
