The Sheriff’s Office said a man who was shot Thursday night on Vulcan Lane was assaulting his son and neighbor, and no charges would be filed against the shooter.

Gregory Burnett was charged with domestic assault and assault.

Around 7 p.m., deputies responded to reports of a person shot at the 6000 block of Vulcan Lane. Deputies arrived to find Burnett suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the knee.

HCSO Investigative Services conducted the investigation into the incident and determined that Burnett was the aggressor, and the shooting was in self-defense.

A deadly weekend shooting has been ruled justified by Memphis police after witness statements backed a Frayser man’s account of why he shot and killed a teenager who allegedly was caught red-handed stealing a car from a neighbor’s driveway.

Don Smith, a witness, said first thing Saturday morning, just before 9:50 a.m., he heard a flutter of bullets flying outside his house on Tulsa and Hallbrook Street…

“He [the neighbor] said, ‘The guy shot me,’ and raised up his shirt and showed us where the guy had shot him. He said he shot back and killed him,” said Smith.

The neighbor allegedly saw a teen trying to steal another neighbor’s car and tried to intervene.

“He was in the car when he turned and asked, ‘What are you doing?’ And he turned and shot him in the chest,” said Smith. “You wouldn’t think somebody who looked that young would have a gun in his hand, but he just went to try to chase him off and said, ‘Get away from my neighbor’s house, we watch out for each other around here.’”…

It was one of five violent robberies Cleveland police believe were committed all within an hour-and-a-half, all by the same group of suspects, who have been identified and are all ages 12 to 17 years old, according to a Wednesday news release…

The suspects arrived in the two stolen vehicles near the intersection of West 48th Street and Franklin Boulevard, where the deadly shooting happened just after 4 p.m., according to police.

The suspects carjacked the deliver driver’s vehicle. Wells drove away as “several shots” were fired, which ultimately killed the teen, according to police. The car soon crashed…

Rock Island County State’s Attorney Dora A. Villarreal has filed a Motion to Dismiss all charges against Jarquez D. Robertson, 22, of Huntsville Ala. Robertson was charged with first degree murder on May 5 in the death of Michael J. Robinson, which happened on May 4 at about 11:45 p.m. in the Deerfield Woods Apartment parking lot, 1035 51st Avenue in East Moline. Robertson was arrested near his home in Huntsville less than 24 hours after the shooting. He and his girlfriend cooperated with officers when interviewed and both claimed that the shooting was in self-defense…

Following Robertson’s arrest, investigators conducted interviews with additional witnesses and analyzed cell phone data from before and after the shooting. It was determined that Robertson legally possessed and carried the weapon used in the shooting.

After the investigation was completed, East Moline police detectives approached Villareal with concerns about the charges, according to a news release. Following Villareal’s review, her office determined the evidence “strongly suggests that Robertson was acting in self-defense of his life and the lives of others when he shot at Robinson.”…

The woman shot the girl in the right shoulder, and the girl was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital, where her condition was stabilized…

When this DoorDash driver arrived to deliver food to a residence in Cheltenham Township, he was confronted by two people and one of them had a gun, police said.

The driver told police that after one of the suspects demanded his keys, he threw them to the ground. Police say this is when the driver heard a gunshot.

Officials say there have been similar robberies reported in the area, and in this case, the driver was armed. He told police that he fired back…

At around 9:15 p.m., Portland police officers arrived near 600 Northwest Naito Parkway after the shooting and found a man with a single gunshot injury. He was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

An early investigation found multiple calls were made about the man who was shot, as he had been observed “aggressively banging on apartment windows,” according to PPB.

Two private security officers tried convince the man to leave when they say he charged at another man passing by. Authorities say the passerby tried to get away, but the man kept charging at him.

This prompted the passerby to shoot the man, according to police. The security officers then seized the gun and held it for police until they responded to the scene.

The man who fired the gun was not immediately charged as the firearm was found to be legally possessed and concealed. Authorities say he also remained at the scene and cooperated with officials…

On Saturday, May 11th around 1:27 PM, officers responded to reports of a shooting at the intersection of Roosevelt and Kirkpatrick.

According to the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD), upon arrival, they were directed to a 55-year-old man who was initially believed to be the victim. He reported that he was approached by a 26-year-old man and another individual, who fired multiple gunshots at him. The 55-year-old man sustained no apparent injuries…

According to police during the investigation, new evidence came in. It was determined that the 55-year-old man had actually attacked the 26-year-old and another person with a crowbar before the shooting occurred. As a result, the shooting is believed to have been self-defense.

This conclusion was reached after the 55-year-old was initially released under the belief that he was the victim. The firearm used in the incident has been collected as evidence, and both men have been released…

A would-be church burglar got a little more than he bargained for Tuesday morning when he was caught in the act by an armed deacon.

When Quentin Grant, a deacon at Impact Ministries, arrived at the church in the 1100 block of Delaware St., just before 10:20 a.m., he says he caught a man in the act of stealing from the church…

Grant could see one of the church’s speakers sitting in the entryway behind the glass doors he told 12News. Seeing this he knew something wasn’t right.

He drew his gun, went inside the church and immediately flipped a breaker that turned on all the lights and saw Goodman walking toward him.

Grant then told Goodman to lay on the floor before he called 911, Grant told 12News on Tuesday.

He held Goodman at gunpoint until officers arrived at the church.

Grant says he had gone to the church to do some cleaning in the office when he found Goodman burglarizing the church…

On May 19, 2024, the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a discharge of a firearm complaint in West Monroe, La. Once deputies arrived at the scene, they contacted a male victim and learned that the victim was reportedly robbed.

According to court documents, the victim met a female subject, later identified as 19-year-old Makieja A. Vallaire, online a few days before the alleged robbery. The victim and Vallaire exchanged phone numbers and planned to meet in person on May 17, 2024; however, the scheduling did not go as planned. The victim was reportedly contacted by Vallarie on May 18, 2024, and was advised that Valleire’s 16-year-old female friend wanted to meet the victim.

The victim then met Valleire’s friend at his home and observed Valleire, another female subject, and one male subject exiting the friend’s vehicle and walking toward the victim and Valleire’s friend. According to authorities, they learned that the male subject allegedly produced a handgun and demanded that the victim give him his wallet.

Once the victim gave the male subject his wallet, the victim managed to slap the handgun out of the male subject’s hand and the firearm discharged. Valleire, Valleire’s friend, and the two other subjects ran to the suspect vehicle and attempted to flee the scene. The victim went to his vehicle and retrieved a firearm for his protection.

The male subject in the suspect vehicle allegedly fired his handgun at the victim and the victim returned fire. The suspects then fled the scene; however, three of the suspects later returned…

Sean Aring, 41, was charged with reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon. Police said Aring was the suspect who yelled at volunteer workers on Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church property off Nolensville Pike before firing a shot in their parking lot.

The volunteers were helping direct traffic for evening mass at the church when they saw Aring walking his dog on Sunrise Avenue toward Nolensville Pike. The volunteers told police that as he walked by, he yelled obscenities at them.

While still in the roadway, Aring allegedly removed a holstered pistol. Aring man fired a shot into the ground, police said. In response, one of the volunteers pulled out his gun and shot a round into the pavement, causing the Aring to run away, police said…

The man who shot a woman at a downtown Spokane convenience store during Saturday’s Torchlight Parade said he feared for his father’s life.

According to the affidavit of facts, Charles Michael and Ashley Tsoodle went into the store, P.M. Jacoy’s around 10 p.m. to purchase ice cream.

The store owner, Eui Hwang, reported Michael and Tsoodle were taking a long time and leaving the freezer door open. Hwang asked Michael and Tsoodle to leave. Michael told police Hwang grabbed Tsoodle’s hair and tried to escort her out of the building.

Michael told police that the three of them began to fight. The affidavit said Tsoodle and Michael struck Hwang multiple times, including with an ice scraper.

Two other workers, including Hwang’s son Ryan Hwang, joined in the altercation.

The affidavit says Michael was armed with a 12″ knife and Ryan Hwang believed his father was in danger.

According to the affidavit, Ryan Hwang had a firearm in his possession he could legally carry. Hwang told police he told Michael to drop the knife and the gun accidently discharged. Tsoodle was struck by the bullet…

Ryan Hwang showed law enforcement the store’s security footage and SPD determined there was probable cause to arrest Michael for attempted assault…

The person who killed one of the victims in a recent mass shooting will not face charges, according to Dauphin County District Attorney Fran Chardo.

On May 21st, 27-year-old Dominic Jackson and 21-year-old Zauhnteen Jackson were killed in a shooting on the first block of 15th Street in Allison Hill. Three others were injured.

Chardo confirmed to CBS 21 News Friday that the shooting death of Dominic Jackson has been ruled self-defense.

Chardo explained in a phone call that Dominic used a rifle to shoot at the individual first, prompting the individual to return fire.

Chardo also noted that the individual was legally licensed to carry a firearm

An Elizabethtown man faces multiple charges, including attempted murder and strangulation after police said he was shot by the man he had allegedly carjacked Thursday morning…

The victim of the carjacking told police his vehicle had broken down at the I-65 North, Outer Loop exit. He said he left the scene and returned in his wife’s vehicle, which he positioned behind his broken down vehicle. Police said that’s when the victim noticed the suspect, Calhoun, walking behind his vehicle while he was sitting inside it, the report says.

Police said Calhoun opened the door and demanded the victim give him the vehicle. When the victim told Calhoun he had a gun in the car, he demanded it too and began reaching for it. The victim was able to grab the gun, and Calhoun began “kicking and striking him.” The citation said the victim had “obvious footprints” from Calhoun’s boots on his clothing.

The victim told officers that at one point, Calhoun said “give me your eyeball” and began grabbing at his left eye, hooking his finger and sticking it into the victim’s eye socket in an attempt to remove it. The victim said while he was able to fight Calhoun off of him, he continued reaching for his firearm and telling the victim he was going to kill him, according to the arrest report.

Calhoun then allegedly put the victim into a headlock and began choking him. The arrest slip states the victim told police he started to lose consciousness and “felt like he was going to die if he didn’t do something.”

That’s when he was able to take control of the gun and fire several shots at Calhoun until he let go of him. The victim exited the vehicle, and Calhoun got in and fled the scene by backing up and getting onto the exit ramp. That’s when police said he was hit by a semi, but continued to flee toward the Outer Loop and Preston Highway area, which is where police found him…

A “good guy with a gun” reportedly came to the aid of a Farrell police officer during a shootout early Friday morning.

“He had a valid concealed-carry permit, he had a gun,” Mercer County District Attorney Peter C. Acker said. “He went to where the police officer was and fired on the suspect.”

State police and county district attorney’s office detectives are continuing to investigate the incident, which took place about 12:30 a.m. Friday outside a convenience store along Indiana Avenue in Farrell…

Acker said the 49-year-old did not cooperate with police and refused to disarm. Instead, the man began shooting and the police officer returned fire along with the bystander…

After speaking with neighbors and witnesses, authorities determined Lemons “became angry with his neighbors for playing music and setting off fireworks.” Because of this, reports stated Lemons began firing shots at the group of people outside the home.

Deputies said one victim tried to talk to Lemons to de-escalate the situation; however, Lemons pointed the gun at that person and continued firing.

Authorities advised another person returned fire but that nobody was seriously hurt during the situation.

Reno police responded to a call on the 3400 block of Comstock Drive just before 3 p.m. on May 29 on the report of two men who’d gotten into an argument where shots were fired…

The second person involved stayed on scene and fully cooperated with the investigation. The Reno Police Department quickly determined the shooting was a justified act of self-defense. Police said there’s no threat to the public and the man killed hasn’t yet been identified.

The incident happened just before 11:30 in the 4700 block of West Wrightwood Avenue in the Belmont Cragin neighborhood.

Chicago police said the victim, a 43-year-old man, was in front of his home when an argument ensued with three men who began attacking him. The victim, a concealed carry license holder, pulled out a handgun and shot all three men.

Neighbors say the victim lives next door to the men who allegedly attacked him and that the altercation happened during a party…
