Besides greatly the dangers of owning a gun in the home, the New York state legislature passed a bill that ignores the benefits of people owning guns for protection. Here is a related example where gunlocks have a small increase in the risks and an even greater loss of life because people aren’t able to protect themselves and deter crime. Of course, there is more evidence that bans on guns are associated with increased murders/homicides. And there are also concealed handgun laws that reduce violent crime.
