The Iowa Perry High School is under the Perry Community School District. It has a very clear firearms policy. The only exceptions for people having guns on school grounds that are listed as: “conducting instructional programs regarding firearms or for conducting an Iowa Department of Natural Resources approved hunter education course or shooting sports activities course on school property.”
The board believes weapons, other dangerous objects and look-a-likes in school district facilities cause material and substantial disruption to the school environment or present a threat to the health and safety of students, employees and visitors on the school district premises or property within the jurisdiction of the school district.
School district facilities are not an appropriate place for weapons, dangerous objects and look-a-likes. Weapons and other dangerous objects and look-a-likes will be taken from students and others who bring them onto the school district property or onto property within the jurisdiction of the school district or from students who are within the control of the school district. . . .

We called the Perry Community School District and asked them to confirm their firearm policy, and they emphasized that the possible exceptions are an “approved hunter education course or shooting sports activities course.”
The police in Dallas County arrived in just seven minutes, but seven minutes is an extremely long time. It just goes to show the importance of arming teachers and staff (see also here).

The murderer joins several other Trans murderers. Over the last few years, there has definitely been an increase in attacks by Trans individuals. From 2019 through 2023, there were 30 mass public shootings where four or more people were murdered in a public place not involving some other type of crime. One of those was a Trans individual, the Covenant School murderer in Nashville in 2023 — so that is 3.33%. The US Census claims that 1% of adults identify as Trans in 2023.
Butler posted, “bro thought I was sharing my Gatorade, he’s mad,” accompanied with trans flag emojis as well as the hashtag “genderfluid.”
Another account called DylanSayWhat shows the pronouns “he/they.”

Maya “Alec” McKinney, one of the two Colorado students charged in the shooting was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole plus 38 years. McKinney, who was a juvenile at the time of the shooting, was sentenced as an adult and faced a mandatory sentence of life in prison. McKinney was born female but identifies as a male, and goes by Alec.

|A former student at the elementary school, allegedly entered The Covenant School in Nashville, Tennessee and opened fire on students and staff, killing six victims (three children and three adults). The shooter was transgender. A police spokesperson told ABC News that Hale was assigned female at birth, and pointed to a social media account linked to Hale that included use of the pronouns he/him.
