More Television Show Bias on Guns: CBS’s Coyote shows criminals in the U.S. using machine guns in multiple episodes

Headline in Variety: “Gabby Giffords Is Hoping Hollywood Can Help in Her Fight Against Gun Violence.” As Giffords explains:

Stories are important. Elected officials use them to help get their points across, and for centuries artists have used them to inspire, make us understand points of view different than our own and bring people together. Hollywood and the arts are vitally important to helping us through a period of isolation, bitterness and divisiveness.

As the Crime Prevention Research Center has pointed out many times, television crime shows are filled with anti-gun bias. For example, anyone who watches TV regularly would think criminals are continually using machine guns to shoot people. This episode of CBS’s Coyote has criminals using machine guns on the U.S. side of the border to shoot at a retired U.S. Border Patrol agent (S1 E2 January 7, 2021). There are other political biases in this show, with it putting out a pro-illegal immigration spin.

Another episode of CBS’s Coyote (S1 E5) has another scene with a machine gun being fired.

Criminals generally use machine guns so rarely that a 2016 survey of prison inmates only broke down the numbers for uses of handguns, rifles, and shotguns. The survey did not even mention fully automatic weapons. Since 1934, there was only one possible known use ever of a civilian using a machine gun in a murder. And even before 1934, they were very rare.

Here is a video on Hollywood’s bias against guns.
