As we have pointed out many times, television crime shows seem to think criminals are constantly using machine guns to shoot people. NBC again shows criminals using machine guns. Chicago PD (S7 E20 April 15, 2020) has criminals stealing machine guns from Indiana — with its lax gun laws — and bringing them into Chicago to commit crime.
In real life, criminals use machine guns so rarely that a 2016 survey of prison inmates only broke down the numbers for uses of handguns, rifles, and shotguns. The survey did not even mention fully automatic weapons. Since 1934, there was only one possible known use ever of a civilian using a machine gun in a murder. And even before 1934, they were very rare.
Here is a list of shows from the 2018-19 television season that showed criminals using machine guns.

how do they even film, or all these auto-guns all CGI. For the few machine guns allowed, TV shows alone would wear them out shooting blanks.
