On the Michael Smerconish Show to discuss our new research on Mass Public Shootings around the world

Sep 10, 2018 | Featured

Dr. John Lott was on the Michael Smerconish Show on SiriusXM radio to discuss our new research on mass public shooting rates in countries around the world. This segment was originally supposed to go for “10-12 min – tops 14,” but clearly Dr. Lott remained on the show much longer than that and there were no commercial breaks. Smerconish raised the possibility of having Lankford on his show to debate his findings, but given Lankford’s unwillingness to provide his data or debate up until now, the odds of this happening, unfortunately, seem very low. Still, we will keep our fingers crossed that Smerconish will be successful in coaxing Lankford to appear.

So is there really a question of whether Trump reduced crime in DC? Did the Washington Post inaccurately report murder data to make the drop look smaller than it actually is?

The Washington Post doesn't really want to give President Trump credit for the drop in crime in DC. Please look at the graph above and notice that there was a discrete change in August and September 2025 (and the change only started about half way through August on...
