CPRC’s Dr. Lott speaks with show host Greg Garrison about Supreme an Appeals Court confirmations. Obama has had a larger impact on the courts than most people realize. You can’t just look at the number of the people a President puts on the court, but rather the quality of individuals. If you look over the past 50 years, up until the Obama administration, the quality of individuals has fallen over time. It has become more and more difficult for presidents to get their brightest nominees confirmed as the biggest battles occur when trying to do so. The reason they fight against the brightest nominees is because they could pull other people on their panel or write decisions that will be influential around the country. Since 1940, no Supreme Court nominee has been confirmed in a presidential election year.
