President of The Crime Prevention Research Center, Dr. John Lott speaks with show host “Stacy” about the difficulty of Presidents getting their brightest judicial nominees confirmed during an election year. There is a discussion on the economy and labor force situation driving decisions for the choices people are making in voting. Dr. Lott also talks about the cost of background checks and how the most vulnerable people (poor minorities living in high crime urban areas) are priced out of being able to go and protect themselves. Dr. Lott explains that many of the people primarily getting flagged falsely on background checks are many minorities who have similar last names. The government is not checking names along with social security numbers and addresses. This causes many initial denials and background checks that are false positives.
