Curt Oda, past president of the Utah Independent Insurance Agents Association of Utah. Response received via text —

All public schools and most all public charter schools are covered by state risk management.
They also come under government immunity statutes and caps.
Some public charters and all private do get private insurance.  Utah rates are some of the lowest in the nation.
It isn’t necessarily because of no gun death incidents (we haven’t had any). It’s more from the fact that we are much better on tort protections.
The same argument was used nearly 20 years ago when guns were allowed in Utah schools. There has not been any incidents in Utah and so there haven’t been any suits.
From what I’ve seen in Utah, rates have not gone up because of guns being allowed.
If that was the case, general liability rates for every business operation in the state would have been sky high with the fact that the law allows guns everywhere except where specifically restricted.
Arkansas
Clarksville district Superintendent David Hopkins

I asked Superintendent David Hopkins about insurance and he sent this repsonse by e-mail:

“I have spoke with them and as of now there is not an issue. I don’t expect one either.”

Indiana

Jeremy Gulley Superintendent Jay School Corporation, Tuesday, December 4, 2018

“Our insurance premiums stayed the same”

Texas
Harrold School District
Superintendent of Harrold School District in Texas, David Thweatt (they have allowed teachers & staff to carry concealed since 2007) and he says their insurance rates have not increased due to that.
Medina Independent School District
Superintendent Penny White said that their school district has not seen any increase in their insurance premiums and that she had not heard of such a problem for any of the other school districts in the state that have allowed teachers and staff to carry.
Fayetteville Independent School District (adopted its plan in February 2018)
Superintendent Ricky Stephens said that their school district has not seen any increase in their insurance premiums
Keene Independent School District (adopted its plan in 2016)
Superintendent Ricky Stephens said that their school district has not seen any increase in their insurance premiums
Ohio
Sydney City Schools, now have 30 staff trained to carry guns — insurance rates have definitely not increased.
.
Kansas
When three Kansas community colleges started allowing concealed carry on their campuses in 2013, they found that their insurance premiums fell, saving the schools a combined $2 million over the next decade.
.
South Dakota
There are two school systems in the state that have allowed teachers and staff to carry.  We talked to School Superintendent Ryan Bruns in Mellette, SD and he informed us that when the law changed in 2013 they kept their same insurer and their premiums stated the same.
.
Conclusion
.
All this isn’t too surprising given the lack of accidents and school shootings at schools that allow teachers to carry guns.
