The shooting happened just after 9 p.m. Wednesday at Chiquitos Cantina and Grill on Old Salem Road SE. Police said the suspect, later identified as Bryan Rosas, pulled a gun inside the restaurant and started shooting during an argument at the bar.
Two witnesses fired back at the gunman, who then allegedly ran to the parking lot and fired more shots at the restaurant…
The two witnesses who fired their weapons were acting in self-defense, police said…

District Attorney General Bryant C. Dunaway announced the findings of the investigation into the Dec. 4, 2025 shooting death of 41-year-old Ashleigh E. McKinzie, concluding the case is a justified act of self-defense.
DeKalb County deputies initially responded to a call near Captains Point Road in the early morning hours, where they found McKinzie lying in the roadway with gunshot wounds…
According to the DA’s report, Stanton told investigators he encountered McKinzie in the roadway while driving and believed she was armed and approaching him, prompting him to fire in fear for his safety.
Authorities confirmed McKinzie was carrying a loaded handgun at the time she was shot. She was also found with a backpack containing several personal items.
An autopsy later determined McKinzie died from multiple gunshot wounds. Toxicology results showed the presence of methamphetamine and amphetamine in her system…
After reviewing all evidence, the District Attorney’s Office determined Stanton acted in self-defense and that his actions were justified under Tennessee law. The case is now closed…

The Lancaster County Attorney’s Office said Tuesday that it declined to file charges against the man accused of fatally shooting his own brother and wounding a bystander at a Casey’s gas station last Thursday…
According to police, investigators found that Greenwalt-Claypool was delivering store products and arrived at the Casey’s about the same time that Wheeler was leaving the store.
Based on store surveillance, video and witness statements, police determined that Wheeler came back inside, left and then came back inside again, this time running towards Greenwalt-Claypool with his arm raised.
At nearly the same time that Wheeler began to run, Greenwalt-Claypool reached for the firearm in the front of his waistband and shot Wheeler multiple times, police said. Additional shots also hit the 38-year-old man who was standing at a cooler nearby…
According to the investigators, Greenwalt-Claypool saw Wheeler inside the convenience store and became concerned based on Wheeler’s behavior and personal connection.
The attorney’s office said the evidence indicated Greenwalt-Claypool was not the initial aggressor, did not start the physical confrontation and Wheeler rushed toward him with a raised fist.
Evidence also reportedly shows that Greenwalt-Claypool stayed at the scene, surrendered his weapon and cooperated with Lincoln Police during the investigation. He allegedly told police at the time of the shooting that he feared being shot, stabbed or “stomped” by Wheeler, the attorney’s office wrote…

Cuyahoga County prosecutors indicted Bobbie Sullins and Lamar Sullins on felony assault charges. Both suspects are pleading not guilty and a trial has been set for next month.
Investigators said Bobbie Sullins called her family members to the church, including her brother with the gun. Prosecutors said the pastor came outside, and he was armed.
Then, when the pastor got shot in the foot, he fired back in self-defense, shooting the other man in the stomach.
Prosecutors said the pastor had asked the family suspected of causing trouble to leave before the gunfire erupted…

A man injured Monday night in an apparent domestic-related shooting in Atlantic Beach is expected to be charged in the incident, according to Horry County police.
Horry County spokesman Thomas Bell said it happened just before 8 p.m. at 31st Ave. S. The person’s injuries were not believed to be life-threatening…
During their investigation, officers found a 9 mm casing on the ground, an unused 9 mm round, and a 9 mm projectile inside the laundry mat, the report said. The officers then took a statement from the victim, and their investigation further revealed the man with the gunshot wound was the suspect in the case.
The man, whose name was not immediately available, is expected to be charged with first-degree domestic violence.

A Franklin County grand jury declined to indict an Indiana father on Tuesday accused of shooting two people at Kentucky State University earlier this month, killing one person outside a dormitory…
“Despite having two armed Kentucky State University Police Officers present, a group of twenty to thirty individuals gathered in the lobby of the son’s dormitory to violently and viciously attack Jacob Bard’s son and family,” the release said. “Many of these individuals were not students of the university and wore ski masks, hoods, and otherwise concealed their faces.”
The release goes on to say that Bard’s son was “slammed into the concrete,” with multiple people attacking him.
“The officer on scene had completely lost control of the situation, and while Jacob and his wife ran towards their son, the officer was retreating further from the erupting violence,” the release continues. “In the chaos, Jacob tied to physically pull the individuals off his son, was struck and when he was unable to do so, and seeing his son in imminent danger of death and serious physical injury, Jacob then drew his firearm and shot two individuals who were actively and viciously beating his son.”…

Lyon County deputies say a man fired shots in self-defense during an alleged road rage incident in Fernley.
Lyon County deputies say on Monday Austin Baker was driving west on Main Street with his wife and two-year-old child in his car when he saw what he thought was the same car that had allegedly cut off his wife’s car two days earlier.
They say he followed the car to the Wendy’s parking lot, when he allegedly pulled in front of it, preventing the car from moving.
And that’s when they say Baker got out and yelled at the other driver, with the other driver allegedly placing a handgun on his lap. Deputies say Baker started hitting the other man in the face, when that man grabbed the gun and fired two rounds through the car door toward Baker. One round got stuck in the door, while the other one missed Baker, hitting a dirt mound behind him…

Lehigh County District Attorney Gavin Holihan announced Friday in a news release that the shooter in the Dec. 19 incident at the Big Woody’s at 1410 Hanover Ave. was legally justified when he fatally shot 34-year-old David Gibbs and two others.
Gibbs was holding the man’s friend in a headlock, and another man was hitting the man in the head when the shooter shot both of them, according to the release. He shot the third man after that man tried to stab him, authorities said…
The shooter called 911 and told authorities he shot the three people in self-defense. He stayed at the scene until police arrived, and the handgun, which he legally owned and had a concealed carry permit for, was seized, authorities said. He suffered a facial injury and a puncture wound to his ribcage.
The DA said the man Gibbs had in a headlock was at risk of serious death or bodily injury. The shooter, he said, reasonably believed deadly force was necessary to protect him. According to the Winston-Salem Police Department, officers were called around 11:07 p.m. on Dec. 20 to Cooper Lake Cannabis on W. Clemmonsville Road after reports of a business robbery and shooting.
Police said two masked suspects forced their way into the business while armed in an apparent attempt to commit a robbery. An employee near the entrance was also armed and fired at the suspects, striking one of them. The second suspect fled the scene before officers arrived…

Officers responded to a reported robbery about 10:30 p.m. at 10300 N. Rodney Parham Road, where a man told police he was confronted at gunpoint while attempting to sell a pair of Jordan shoes.
The victim, identified by police as Jayden Carson, said he met the suspect in the parking lot after agreeing to sell the shoes for $365. Carson told officers he parked on the south side of the lot when a navy-blue sedan pulled up beside him and a passenger exited the vehicle.
Carson said the man, whom he knew only as “Nate,” examined the shoes placed on the hood of Carson’s vehicle and demanded them without paying. According to the report, the suspect then pulled a black handgun from his waistband.
Carson told police he grabbed the shoes and ran behind a nearby red SUV. When he turned back, he saw the suspect pointing a firearm at him, the report said. Carson then drew his own gun and fired two shots. The suspect fired one shot in return, police said.
Carson told officers he believed he may have struck the suspect because he saw the man’s left shoulder drop before the suspect ran north through the parking lot. The suspect’s vehicle also fled the scene, police said…

One man has been arrested after a domestic dispute on Banana Loop Road ended in gunshots, according to the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office…
“When deputies arrived on the scene, they spoke with two reporting parties involved in this case,” Wilson County Sheriff’s Office Chief of Staff Wanda Samuel said. “The initial caller reported to deputies that he’d gone to check on his ex-girlfriend due to her telling him that she had been assaulted by a current boyfriend. After speaking with his former girlfriend on what had occurred, he walked back to his vehicle. During this time, he saw Pettitt underneath a detached garage that was located beside of the main residence with a gun in his hand. The two male subjects exchanged words. During this encounter, Pettitt fired a gunshot, striking the caller’s vehicle.”

Police said, around 3:20 p.m. on Wednesday, officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 1300 block of South 58th Avenue in Cicero.
Two teens had arranged a meeting for the sale of an item through a social media marketplace, as a man related to the seller waited in a car.
The sale did not go through, and as the teen selling the item walked away, a third teen walked up and the two began struggling over it.
The seller’s relative got out of the car, and the teen who was trying to steal the item shot him two times. That man had his own gun, and returned fire, shooting the teen trying to rob his relative…
On Thursday, police said the teen who had been trying to buy the item was charged as a juvenile with armed robbery, after investigators determined he and the teen who started the shootout had planned a robbery all along…
