Hampton man shot, killed by person he was attempting to rob

Hampton, Virginia (March 15, 2016)

Hampton Police say 18-year-old Jafari Mitchell and a 15-year-old male had approached a 71-year-old man, displayed a gun and demanded money.

The 71-year-old man, fearing for safety, pulled out his own permitted concealed gun and shot Mitchell. The 15-year-old fled from the area, but was later arrested and charged with robbery and one count of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
