Deputies were called around 2:15 a.m. to the 8200 block of C.E. King Parkway on an in-progress call…
Investigators said the shooting happened outside a business known as the JV Ranch Ice House. Deputies interviewed witnesses who told them the victim had been involved in a verbal argument that escalated into a physical confrontation with another man.
Witnesses told detectives the victim then got into his vehicle and drove toward the other man. The other man fired one shot into the vehicle, striking the driver. The vehicle then crashed, and the driver was transported to the hospital, authorities said.
The man who fired the shot remained at the scene and has been cooperating with investigators, according to detectives. Crime Scene Investigators and homicide detectives continued working the scene Friday morning, and deputies said they have video evidence that still needs to be reviewed as the investigation continues.

On Friday, July 3, 2026, at approximately 11:20 a.m., Atlanta police responded to 859 Oak St. NW regarding a person shot call. Upon arrival, officers located a male suffering from two gunshot wounds. Officers quickly detained one male at the scene, while the other male, 38-year-old Brandon Harper, was transported to the hospital alert, conscious, and breathing.
During their preliminary investigation, officers determined there had been a verbal dispute between Harper and the detained male. Investigators determined Harper was the primary aggressor and had fired a firearm multiple times at the detained male. The detained male, who was uninjured, returned fire in self-defense, striking Harper twice.
Additionally, investigators determined Harper is a convicted felon and was wanted on multiple outstanding warrants. Harper was charged accordingly in connection with this incident and will be transported to the Fulton County Jail upon his discharge from the hospital. The other male will not face any charges…

According to information shared by District Attorney Mike Aubele on Monday, Richard L. Vernon, 39, is charged with attempted homicide following what he calls a “vehicle incident” that happened in Luzerne Township Sunday evening.
Aubele said Vernon began following a man home after this incident.
When the victim got home, Vernon fired multiple shots into his house and nearly hit a woman who was showering inside, Aubele said. Neighboring homes were also endangered.
The victim returned fire in self-defense. Aubele said he will not be charged…
Aubele added that Vernon is not legally allowed to own a firearm and has been charged accordingly…

According to Police Chief Leo Niemczyk, the night began when a group of friends, including Stokes and Loubeau’s girlfriend, went bowling together. When they returned to the home, investigators say they realized they were locked out. Police say Loubeau’s girlfriend called him to bring over a spare key.
Detectives say the dispute was never about the key itself. Instead, investigators believe Loubeau became jealous after seeing his girlfriend with Stokes and another man, Dwayne Walker.

The Hancock County Prosecutor’s Office determined the July 21 shooting that killed 37-year-old Kevin Powell of Indianapolis was legally justified because the Volkswagen driver reasonably feared for his life during the confrontation, WXIN reported.
According to the report, investigators said Powell and the Volkswagen driver, who were strangers, had been traveling along the same route from Marion County into Hancock County when the encounter began. Witnesses told investigators that Powell, who was driving a Dodge Journey, followed the Volkswagen at an extremely close distance before both vehicles stopped in a construction zone.
WXIN reported that prosecutors said Powell exited his vehicle and aggressively approached the Volkswagen driver, allegedly yelling, “You shouldn’t be driving on my road that fast, motherf*****.”…

Mobile police responded to a deadly shooting at a business located in the 4400 block of Halls Mill Road on July 28. Investigators say 25-year-old Evan Bagley came to the business, got into an argument with another man, and pointed a gun at him.
The owner of the business said he was the one who pulled the trigger.
The business owner, who didn’t to go on camera, said he was outside working on a fence and grilling hotdogs when Bagley pulled up demanding money. The owner said he did not know Bagley. He said he gave him cash and asked him to leave.
The owner said Bagley then shouted he was going to kill someone, reached into his truck, and grabbed a gun. The owner said he ran through a carport — where other people, including children, were sitting — telling them to run and hide before grabbing his own gun.
The owner said after getting his gun, he hid behind a car. He said Bagley ended up at a fence looking for the owner while holding his gun. That is when the owner said he shot Bagley…

Morton Police were called around 11:55 a.m. to the 500 block of South Fourth Avenue to help a Tazewell County Animal Control officer investigating two dogs running at large.
The animal control officer found the dogs actively attacking the juvenile, police said. A Village of Morton employee and a private citizen stopped to provide aid before the juvenile was taken to the hospital.

Sulphur Police responded earlier today to the Comfort Suites on S. Cities Service Highway to a report of a weapon-related disturbance. One male was shot and died on the scene, officials said.
Detectives said a subject had obtained a key card to another individual’s hotel room and entered the room without permission. The subject later exited the room, and the verbal confrontation continued in the hallway.
Surveillance footage showed the subject attempting to strike the other individual and enter the hotel room a second time.
During the confrontation, the subject reached into his waistband and produced a black object. The other individual then fired approximately eight rounds, striking the subject multiple times, authorities said.
No arrests have been made. No additional information is being released at this time, officials said.
