Bronx, New York, July 14, 2025 (defiantamerica.com)

The incident erupted around 13:00 p.m. on Monday near Commonwealth and Westchester Avenues in the Soundview neighborhood of the Bronx.

What began as a dispute—possibly over money, as a witness overheard demands of “give me my money”—quickly escalated into a brutal beatdown. Two attackers cornered the victim against a wall: one in a black T-shirt and orange shorts, who was shockingly filming the assault on his cell phone while kicking the man in the face, and the other in red sweatpants and a white T-shirt, joining in the punches and kicks. Pinned and outnumbered, the victim—dressed in black pants and a black sweater over a white shirt—managed to stand, only to be grabbed from behind in a rear waist lock. In a split-second decision that likely saved his life, he drew a concealed handgun and fired over his shoulder, striking the 27-year-old assailant in orange shorts directly in the torso. The wounded man collapsed to the sidewalk, unresponsive and bleeding, as the victim broke free and fired additional shots at the fleeing cameraman in red, who bolted from the scene…
