The number of non-citizens provided Social Security numbers by fiscal year, though this includes both those who can legitimately get numbers as well as illegal aliens.
FY2022 590,193
FY2023 964,163
FY2024 2,095,247
FY2025 October 2024 to March 2025 900,649
Total 5,721,326
Unfortunately, the Social Security numbers don’t break down how many of these individuals were illegal aliens? We also don’t know how many of the 900,649 issued during fiscal year 2025 were just from October 2024 through January 2025 nor how many of the 270,425 during fiscal year 2021 were after January 2021.
Assuming the average of 340,481 Social Security numbers granted by year over the fiscal years 2019 to 2021 were all non-citizens legally in the United States, that would be 1,702,408 over five years. So 5.7 million minus 1.7 million or 4 million. While it is possible that some of the non-citizens granted Social Security numbers in February and March were illegal aliens and were granted numbers by the Trump administration at the same rate as under Biden, that would amount to 184,855, though that seems very doubtful. But that could reduce the number further to 3.86 million.
