The Catholic School Shooter in Minneapolis Claims that He Would Prefer to Target a “Gun-Free Zone” Because the Victims are Defenseless. “That’s why I and many others like schools so much.”

Aug 27, 2025 | Gun Free Zones, Mass Public Shootings

It turns out that it wasn’t an accident that attack in Minneapolis occurred at a gun-free zone. The murderer’s manifesto makes it clear that he purposely picked a gun-free zone. The murderer wrote his manifesto in Russian, but here is the relevant translation.

“I recently heard a rumor that James Holmes, the Aurora theater shooter, may have chosen venues that were ‘gun-free zones.’ I would probably aim the same way . . . Holmes wanted to make sure his victims would be unarmed. That’s why I and many others like schools so much. At least for me, I am focused on them. Adam Lanza is my reason.”

Information on the Aurora movie theater shooter picking a gun free zone is available here and here.

On the same page, the murderer makes a common argument by those on the political right: “criminals with intentions are not going to follow rules!” As he points out, gun-free zones are a magnet for these attacks.

Even a deranged madman recognized that people with bad intentions don’t care about gun laws….I could ask, what do you do when confronted by a rabid dog ?…answer…Shoot it down of course, but you’ll need a gun handy to do it..the same thing applies to these humans gone rabid…

All gun free zones do is attract demented people providing them with the perfect environment to wreck death on good people. When will organizations wake up to this?

I don’t know, but I hope having the op-ed in the widely read WSJ will embarrass some in the media to properly report on the content of these manifestos and diaries. Thank you.
