The NOPD was investigating a second shooting early Sunday, after finding an adult male victim downed by multiple gunshot wounds allegedly fired by a tow truck driver in the 4000 block of Tulane Avenue in Mid-City…
According to police, the 46-year-old truck driver was preparing to tow away an illegally parked vehicle when he was surrounded by “several people.”
The NOPD said someone in the group produced a gun and handed it to another man, telling him to shoot the tow operator. Police said the man pointed the gun at the tow operator while attempting to load the weapon. The tow operator pulled his own gun faster and shot the man threatening him, police said.
No arrests were announced in connection with the incident.

According to the arrest report, the victim and her friend began to walk inside to get her mother, at which time Wilkerson and the other female began “acting strange.” The victim said at that time the woman started attacking her. The victim said that is when Wilkerson removed a small handgun from his right side, took the firearm and hit her in the left side of her head. One of the victim’s said Wilkerson then pointed the firearm at her and the other victim and began shooting towards them. According to the arrest report, one of the victims ran inside the business and the other went back to her vehicle and left the business. According to the victim inside the business, she heard more shots being fired as she entered the business.
Deputies said they spoke with a witness who was inside the business calling out bingo numbers. The witness said he heard a commotion outside, at which time he turned around and saw Wilkerson pull a firearm from his pants and begin shooting. The witness said he told everyone in the building to get on the ground. According to the arrest report, two minutes later, Wilkerson came into the business and then two citizens pulled concealed weapons and held Wilkerson at gun point until deputies arrived…

Sergeant Paul Parizek of the Des Moines Police Department says this is one example of a lawfully-possessed gun doing something well. “It certainly looks like the big turning point here, the pivotal piece to keeping her child safe was the fact that she was lawfully-armed with a handgun, and she produced it and told them ‘let go of my kid.’”

One man is dead, and another is facing serious charges after police say a crime victim decided to fight back.
Investigators said the victim was also wounded during an attempted robbery and shooting Saturday night in the 4000 block of Atwood Avenue in East Memphis.
Police said the victim was parking his car outside his home on Atwood when two men got out of a 2017 Chevy Malibu and tried to rob him.

An armed robbery suspect was subdued by three customers who were legally carrying concealed guns at an Ellijay gas station on Monday, police said.
Just before 6:30 p.m., a man walked into the Ideal Mart at 31 Old Northcutt Rd. pretending to be a customer buying an energy drink, according to police. As he walked up to the register, police said that he pulled up a pair of underwear he had on his neck to cover his face.
He then walked behind the counter and took out what police described as a .45 caliber pistol and held it to the head of the gas station clerk. The suspect demanded the clerk to give him all of the money, according to a statement from Ellijay Police.
A customer inside the gas station then pulled out a pistol, he was legally carrying, and helped intervene during the attempted armed robbery, police said. A second customer went to his car, grabbed his pistol, and went back inside to help the first customer subdue the suspect.
As the suspect was attempting to leave after the two men had their guns drawn, a third customer who was at a gas station pump, came inside with his gun to help the other two customers, according to police.
After they unarmed the suspect, the first customer ordered the other two to not shoot the man, police said…
The man is being charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. They are both being held in the Gilmer County Adult Detention Center without bond.

According to a press release from the Panama City Police Department, officers responded at about 4:15 a.m. to a shooting at the nightclub located at 3901 West Highway 98 in Panama City. They found 36-year-old Angel Alamo-Contreras “suffering from at least one gunshot” wound. He was pronounced dead on scene…
“Through video evidence and witness statements, it was determined that Contreras left the bar as it was closing,” the release reads. “After being locked out of the business and enraged over lost property, he retrieved a firearm from his vehicle and fired several rounds into the front door of the establishment. At that time, the business was still occupied by multiple patrons and staff.”

Officials say charges have been declined after a man was killed after allegedly attempting to burglarize an ice cream shop in Norman.

A FOX 35 News crew observed what appeared to be a bullet hole in the back door of the victim’s white Cadillac Escalade that was parked behind George’s Tavern, at 1011 S French Ave.
According to police, based on surveillance video, a man jumped out of this portable toilet and tried to steal the employee’s vehicle, and that was when another man, described as the carjacking victim’s boyfriend, shot and killed the alleged carjacker.
“A man had been waiting in the outhouse for a few hours and come around and had grabbed her and had her on the ground, choking her and beating her in the head,” said George’s Tavern customer Al Moon.
The father of the victim said his daughter suffered mild injuries to her head after the suspect attacked her. He said she is a bartender at George’s Tavern and had just finished her shift. He asked her boyfriend to come by at the end of the night to make sure she got home safely. According to police, when the boyfriend saw what was happening, he removed his gun from his waist and shot the man…

A man is facing attempted murder charges after deputies said he fired shots into another vehicle during a fit of road rage Sunday afternoon in Spartanburg.
The shooting happened on U.S. 29 headed from Interstate 85 towards Spartanburg shortly after 12:30 p.m.
Investigators said an argument began between the suspect and a victim about the suspect’s erratic driving.
After the victim’s car got in front of the suspect’s vehicle, deputies said the suspect opened fire on the victim’s car, hitting it four to five times. One of the rounds went through the passenger seat headrest, nearly hitting the passenger.
The suspect then pulled alongside the victims’ vehicle and pointed his gun again before the driver fired two shots at the suspect in self-defense, according to the sheriff’s office.
The suspect then lost control of his vehicle, hit a third car, and crashed near the corner of U.S. 29 and Shoresbrook Drive.

The shooting happened at about 12:45 p.m. Saturday in an alley in the 2000 block of Cook Avenue. Police described the incident on social media as a “possible robbery with shots fired.”
“The report indicates the suspects attacked the victim at her car outside of her residence,” Lennick said in the statement. “The victim pulled her concealed firearm and both suspects were shot.”

An attempted carjacking in Philadelphia was thwarted by a licensed gun owner who fired back at the would-be thief, police said.
The confrontation occurred just after 11 p.m. Saturday in the 1800 block of Mascher Street. 26th District Officers responded to a person with a gun report of a shooting.
Upon arrival, officers met two men, ages 26 and 29, who said a Black male of a thin build wearing a black ski mask and all-black clothing opened a car door and pointed a gun at them.
