Even in a state such as Tennessee, Democrats appear to want to ban all semi-automatic guns. But there is a real cost to law-abiding civilians from banning semi-auto guns. For example, if you ban all semi-auto rifles, the alternative is a manually loaded gun, where you have to physically yourself load another bullet in the chamber after each shot. But if you have to fire more than one round because you are facing multiple criminals, fire and miss, or wound but don’t incapacitate the attacker, you might not have the time to load another bullet in the chamber.
