TV Media bias: NBC’s Law & Order, Another defensive gun use goes wrong on TV Cop Show

Feb 21, 2023 | Media Bias

Television show bias against guns is never-ending. Except for a couple episodes on Paramount’s Yellowstone, you won’t see an entertainment television show with a civilian successfully using a gun defensively. Instead, something always seems to go wrong when guns are used defensively (from being fatally shot by the criminal without stopping the crime to getting in the way of police to continually having the gun stolen and use in a crime to it being used in an accidental shooting). In fact, after the Supreme Court’s Bruen decision earlier this year, television shows seem to be showing more bad defensive gun uses than ever before. This episode of NBC’s “Law & Order” is no different (Season 22, Episode 12, January 26, 2023). This episode has an example of a defensive gun use failing. The landlord shoots a young boy who bangs on his door and breaks through the door. The boy was trying to do a stunt for social media to be famous.

It is somewhat depressing that this type of misinformation was seen by 5.4 million viewers. In our collection of 124 cases where armed civilians have stopped active shooting attacks, there is not one case that corresponds to the examples shown in these various TV shows where a concealed carry permit holder accidentally shoots a bystander or where they caused a bystander to be shot.

So is there really a question of whether Trump reduced crime in DC? Did the Washington Post inaccurately report murder data to make the drop look smaller than it actually is?

So is there really a question of whether Trump reduced crime in DC? Did the Washington Post inaccurately report murder data to make the drop look smaller than it actually is?

The Washington Post doesn't really want to give President Trump credit for the drop in crime in DC. Please look at the graph above and notice that there was a discrete change in August and September 2025 (and the change only started about half way through August on...
