A victim that the suspect allegedly tried to rob on a Phoenix bus was hit and killed by a vehicle while fleeing. When the suspect tried to walk away from the area, an armed bystander in a different vehicle demanded him to stop. The bystander shot the suspect in the leg after he approached the bystander and the driver while holding up a knife. The armed bystander was interviewed and released.

A man faces first-degree murder charges after he was accused of attempting to rob another man with a knife and chasing him into a Phoenix street, where he was fatally hit by a car.

On Sunday night, Phoenix police were called to 35th Avenue and Bethany Home Road for reports of a shooting. When they arrived, they found Frank Avila, 28, with a serious gunshot wound that was not life-threatening. He was taken to a hospital.

Police also found 26-year-old Martin Anaya north of the intersection on 35th Avenue. He had been struck by a car and was critically injured, according to police. He was later pronounced dead.

Maricopa County court records indicate that Avila had threatened to rob Anaya while on a city bus with a knife and attempted to stab two others. After the bus stopped, Avila chased Anaya as he tried to run away and was hit by a truck. Avila also tried to stab another individual after he walked away from the scene, according to court records…

After Anaya was struck by the car, a person in a different car saw Avila walking away from the area. While he was telling him to stop, court records state that Avila approached him and the driver with the knife raised above his head. The person who told Avila to stop then pulled out a handgun and shot Avila in the leg, according to court records.

Phoenix police spoke with the man who shot Avila and later released him…

A 20-year-old woman was saved by an armed ride-share driver who engaged in a gunfight with a violent sex trafficker. The ride-share driver not only rescued the young woman but also may have brought down a multistate trafficking enterprise.

A young woman made two harrowing attempts to escape a violent pimp — including jumping out a third-story window — before being rescued by a ride-share driver who engaged in a gunfight with the man, prosecutors in Seattle said…

The 20-year-old woman who escaped had been taken from California to Seattle to perform sex acts for money, prosecutors said in charging documents in King County Superior Court. She first tried to escape Burt by jumping nearly naked from the high window, they said. She finally succeeded after running from his car and sitting topless on a highway until the ride-share driver helped her…

The ride-share driver stopped and told H.A. to get in his van. Burt pursued them, shooting at the van, Gauen wrote. The ride-share driver was also armed and fired back over several blocks until he was able to get onto Interstate 5 and meet police at a gas station. No one appears to have been struck by the bullets, but the van’s windshield was riddled with holes.

Police arrested Burt as he was leaving the rental home with the other women, the documents said. He faces charges that include human trafficking, promoting prostitution, assault and drive-by shooting, but given the “expansive reach of the defendant’s egregious behavior,” additional charges are likely, Gauen wrote…

St. Charles, MO, July 16, 2022

A 26-year-old man was on a violent crime spree of armed robberies across three St. Charles gas stations. He was eventually stopped by a customer who had reportedly witnessed the third and final robbery. The customer saw the suspect inside the station holding a knife to the clerk’s throat. Being concealed carry, the customer got his 9 mm handgun from the vehicle, entered the store, and confronted the suspect. When the suspect charged him, the customer fired four shots and killed the suspect. The armed citizen was cleared of any wrongdoing.

The crime spree started at a Mobile On the Run in the 1400 block of S. Fifth Street at around 2:58 a.m. on July 16. The 26-year-old suspect had a knife when he went into the store and told the clerk he was robbing her. He then held the knife to the clerk’s throat while she opened the register. Police said the man pushed the clerk to the floor and stole the money before dragging her toward the back of the store asking where the safe is.

The clerk was not able to access the safe. The man then dragged her back to the front counter where she opened a second register before he stole the money and fled. Officials said the clerk was later taken to the hospital for lacerations on her left wrist, right hand, and neck.

St. Charles police officers were on their way to the scene of the armed robbery when a call for an alarm going off came in at Mid-Town Phillips 66 in the 500 block of First Capitol at around 3:14 a.m. Officers said they found broken glass which meant a burglary had taken place.

While police were investigating the burglary a report of another armed robbery came in at around 3:20 a.m. at QuikTrip in the 2200 block of First Capitol with shots fired. Police said they arrived at the scene and found the 26-year-old suspect, identified Sunday as Lance Bush, of St. Louis City, shot by a witness during the robbery. He was taken to the hospital where he later died…

“He grabbed a backpack and ran inside, looking for I guess the clerk. I saw him grab her and drag her to the front to the counter, something wasn’t right when I saw that, so me being concealed carry, I had my gun on me and I just waited,” the customer added in a comment to local outlet CBS News 19…

“I walked up to the door and I saw him with a knife to her throat. She was emptying out the cash register and I took a step in and peeked my head in to ask if everything was okay. I couldn’t see his face, but he was saying yes, but I could see her face she was saying no, she was scared,” he continued.

According to the gun owner’s account of events, Bush then ran from around the counter to attack before the customer fired approximately four shots, dropping him to the ground…

A Chicago man was so annoyed that another man was spitting while he talked during a card game at a South Side hookah lounge. He followed him outside during a smoking break and shot him multiple times. The man allegedly continued to fire outside the lounge, when a lounge patron in possession of a concealed carry license proceeded to open fire on the shooter, wounding his left arm. The concealed carry holder then followed the man and pointed him out to the police, who arrested the man about a block away.

When the gunfire stopped, a security guard and another person from the building opened the front door and saw McKissic standing outside pointing the gun in their direction, prosecutors said.

When an alleged drunk driver stopped his van on the side of a highway, several people also pulled over to detain him until police could arrive. When the obviously impaired driver tried to speed away, another driver—who was hit by the van—drew a gun and fired, striking the driver once and preventing him from endangering others.

According to OSP, troopers and emergency crews responded around 6 p.m. to Redwood Highway near Elliott Creek Road to reports of a shooting.

The driver of a Chevrolet van was “driving all over the road,” and witnesses believed the driver to be intoxicated, OSP’s initial investigation found. As troopers were responding, the van’s driver stopped alongside of the road and several people tried to detain him until police arrived.

31-year-old Bryan Fitzgerald of Rogue River, later identified as the van driver, tried to leave — hitting 32-year-old Harley Tyrie and 31-year-old Brandy Newell, both of Grants Pass, OSP said.
