Beto O’Rourke in talking about the Kyle Rittenhouse case: “This entire tragedy makes the case that we should not allow our fellow Americans to own and use weapons that were originally designed for battlefield use. That AR-15, that AK-47, has one single solitary purpose and that is killing people as effectively, as efficiently, in as great a number, in as little time as possible. We saw that in Kenosha . . .”
CNN’s Dana Bash interviews Beto O’Rourke about his run for the Texas governor. O’Rourke sticks to his call for banning semi-automatic AR-15s and AK-47s, misleadingly calling them “weapons of war.” These guns fire the same bullets, with the same rapidity, and do the same damage as a small caliber hunting rifle. These guns just look like military weapons. He also blamed the Kyle Rittenhouse shooting on him having an AR-15, as if having a semi-automatic hunting rifle would have made any difference.
O’Rourke seemed to want to talk more about Texas’ new Constitutional Carry law, but after the law has been in effect for year-and-a-half this is unlikely to still be an issue. For more information, see Dr. Lott’s testimony on Texas’ Constitutional Carry law.
