Policing matters: NYC shootings up 127% in September, murders up 76%

Murders this year are 33 percent higher so far than in 2019 — 246 people killed in 2019 to 327 people killed in 2020, according to New York Police Department data released Friday.

Shooting incidents are up 92% so far compared to 2019 — 608 shootings in 2019 versus 1165 so far this year.
