I would offer just one correction. You don’t need a license to take a car into public. You need a license to operate your car on public roads. The license isn’t for the use of the car, it’s for the use of the roads. Licensing people to carry firearms doesn’t fit that analogy because that’s not a license to use public property, it’s a license to have the gun. For cars, the license applies to the roads. For guns, the license applies to the guns.
