UPDATE: Data directly from the Federal Police shows a different set of numbers (Original Post below). The number of CAC licenses in Brazil increased from 867,472 in 2022 to 1,026,633 in 2026 (see screenshots below), but those are internal government numbers that links...
They push universal background checks because the real goal is to get universal gun registration. If they get universal background checks, criminals and mass shooters will still get guns and shoot people, then, the anti-gunners will come back and demand universal gun registration, which they say is now necessary to make Universal background checks work. They will start the drum beat, create polls where they ask uninformed Americans if they support gun registration to help background checks…and the dance will begin again….they know universal background checks do nothing, but they need them to get to gun registration.
