This story comes from WPVI-TV Philadelphia, PA
It happened around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at 2nd and Bainbridge streets.
Investigators say the suspects had started accosting the man and his wife.
“The verbal altercation turned into a physical altercation where the two shooting victims, before they were shot, started to assault the individual that later shot them. They were punching him and caused bruising to his face,” Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small said. . . .
Young [the 65-year-old man’s lawyer] told Action News his client has lived in the neighborhood for about 40 years and has a license to carry.
“They attacked him. They attacked his wife. He begged them to stop,” Young told Action News. “He and his wife pulled away. They kept on coming. He explained he had a firearm. They said, ‘We don’t care.’ They punched him in the face. The whole side of his his face is blown up. His wife’s being hit. He asked them to leave, he begged them to stop. And he discharged his firearm.”
Police say the man fired three shots, hitting a 20-year-old man from Cinnaminson, N.J. once in the chest and a 21-year-old man in the neck. . . .
Young says his client is lucky to be alive.
“This was life or death,” he said. “If he didn’t do what he did and have training to do it, I think we would be at his funeral right now.”. . .
Excellent.
