Dr. John Lott speaks with show host Steve Gruber about the costs of background checks that many people don’t consider. Background checks on private sales/transfers of guns can be costly in some states and that cost can prevent those who would benefit the most from owning a gun (poor minorities living in high crime urban areas) to be able to protect themselves. Also discussed is Dr. Lott’s research where he found there is no statistical evidence that expanded background checks on private gun sales would help stop mass public shootings.
