Dr. John Lott, President of The Crime Prevention Research Center, speaks with show host Chris Arnzen about how he determined that More Guns owned and carried by law-abiding citizens creates and environment where there is Less Crime. He explains there are two groups of people who are the most vulnerable and benefit the most from carrying a gun for self defense. Those people being poor minorities living in high crime urban areas, women and the elderly.

I just wanted to get your thoughts on a line of defense against gun grabbers accusing loose gun laws in parts of the country causing gun violence in cities with strict gun control laws. I bring this up because I live near Chicago…and they always blame loose laws in Indiana and other places for the gun crime in Chicago.

I noticed that Vermont has even looser gun laws than Indiana….right? And New York city has a far lower gun murder rate than Chicago….so I ask…why aren’t New York criminals getting guns in Vermont and shooting and killing more people in New York?

Dittos Los Angeles and Nevada and Arizona?

I am always debating gun grabbers and I make the point that it isn’t gun access that causes gun murder…it is the willingness of the criminal sub culture to commit murder that causes gun murder.

I make that point by showing that although British criminals get guns easily, and seem to prefer fully automatic rifles….they actually commit less murder….they are not less violent, in fact Britain seems to have more violence…they just don’t cross the line into murder as often.

Dittos Japan…where the Yakuza get guns easily when they decide to murder each other, but they rarely put murder over making a profit….a trait of their criminal sub culture.

So with Chicago, compared to New York and L.A…..the looser gun laws in other states argument falls flat…right?
