Many hundreds of newspapers and media around the US and others around the world saw the Associated Press reference the CPRC research on the number of concealed handgun permits.  These numbers help give people some perspective on anything that happens with concealed handgun permit holders.  The point of the AP article is to show how the mass public shootings have increased demand for concealed carry permits. AP reporter Ryan Foley’s article was in the ABC News:

From 2007 to 2014, the number of concealed-carry handgun permits in states nearly tripled, from 4.7 million to 12.8 million, according to a recent report by the Crime Prevention Research Center, a group whose research is often cited by gun-rights supporters. Meanwhile, several states have passed laws shielding the identities of permit holders to protect privacy and prevent potential harassment. . . .

Other places that carried the AP discussion include CBS News, the Washington PostNew York PostPhiladelphia InquirerDetroit News, Salt Lake Tribune, San Francisco ExaminerSt. Louis Post-Dispatch, Denver Post, Miami HeraldKOMO News, Yahoo News, Las Vegas SunWashington Times, WRAL, Huffington Post, Christian Science Monitor, and many more.  International publications include the New Zealand Herald, Toronto Star, Japan Times, Global News (Canada), and Yahoo News UK.
