John Lott Jr., president of the Crime Prevention Research Center, pointed to the fact that none of the security guards at the college were armed, hinting the attack could have been stopped in its tracks if they had weapons. He made a similar argument after four Marines and a sailor were killed in the June attack on two military facilities in Chattanooga, Tenn. . . .

Lott’s comments were more directed at concealed handgun permit holders.  The difficulty with uniformed guards is that they are obvious targets.

UPDATE: Data directly from the Federal Police shows a different set of numbers (Original Post below). The number of CAC licenses in Brazil increased from 867,472 in 2022 to 1,026,633 in 2026 (see screenshots below), but those are internal government numbers that links...
