From WPTV NBC Channel 5 in West Palm Beach, Florida:

That’s when witnesses say Anderson stepped in to help.

“He saw a woman being attacked at night, and he went to her aid. In my opinion I think he did the right thing,” the sheriff says.

Anderson is a disabled Army veteran. The sheriff couldn’t specify what his disability was.

He says the two homeless men were threatening Anderson and one of them shoved him.

That’s when witnesses say Anderson told the two that he had a gun and that they should back off.

But the sheriff says the two didn’t leave him alone, and that’s when he shot them both in the torso.

“You don’t have an obligation to allow yourself to be attacked,” the sheriff says. . . .
