John Lott Jr., Ph.D., believes the answer is more guns. Lott runs the Crime Prevention Research Center, a pro-gun advocacy group and is the author of “More Guns, Less Crime.” He cites a passage in the Santa Barbara killer’s “manifesto” where he said he chose not to attack the huge crowds on Isla Vista during April’s Deltopia College Party because of a large police presence, opting instead for the soft targets of a sorority house and pedestrians on a quiet weekend evening before finals. . . .
