Bloomberg’s Moms Demand Action makes false statement to Texas state Senators, claiming that there are no numbers on the behavior of permit holders

The bizarre thing here is that Moms Demand Action really thought that they could get away with their claim that there is no data available on how permit holders behave.  Surely, Texas state Senators know what information is offered by the Texas Department of Public Safety, and similar data is available for other states (Michigan and Florida, though the CPRC didn’t pay to obtain the Florida data).  …

John Lott’s newest piece at Fox News on the New York Times reporting the latest Violence Policy Center claims starts this way:

People walking the streets with guns pose a danger to others, right? With 12 million Americans across all 50 states now having concealed handgun permits, one would think that this question would have been settled one way or another.

Woman shoots man, a sex offender, who broke into her home at 4:30 AM

From KLTV in Tyler, Texas about a home invasion in Van Zandt County (just east of Dallas):

Why have a concealed handgun at a restaurant?: 23-year-old National Guard member stops three armed robbers at a Sonic restaurant

From WXIA TV (Channel 11) in Atlanta:

A 23-year-old National Guard member foiled an attempted robbery at a DeKalb County restaurant Sunday night.

It happened at the Sonic in the Belvedere Plaza shopping center near the intersection of Memorial and Columbia drives.

. . . the victim, Joseph Toombs, was waiting in line at the drive-thru when he saw three suspects approach him on foot.

CPRC in the Christian Science Monitor and Yahoo News and other places

This is from Patrik Jonsson’s article that originally appeared in the Christian Science Monitor and Yahoo News:

Others, however, including John Lott, author of “More Guns, Less Crime,” have found the opposite – that the addition of 6 million concealed-carry permits since 2007 correlates in some fashion to a 22 percent drop in the overall murder and violent crime rates in the US.
