Canadian police advise people to leave their car FOBs at their front door so thieves can steal cars

York Regional Police Constable Marco Ricciardi: “To prevent the possibility of being attacked in your home, leave your FOBs at your front door. And they aren’t toy guns, they are real guns, they are loaded.”

Possibly if Canadians also had guns, criminals might be less interested in stealing cars if victims were able to defend themselves.
