At Townhall: Media Calls The New Zealand Shooter ‘Right-Wing’

Mar 18, 2019 | Featured

The media wants to call anyone who is a racist a “right-wing” extremist. Here is Dr. John Lott’s take on the mass public shooting in New Zealand.

The Washington Post called the New Zealand mosque shootingone of the worst cases of right-wing terrorism in years.” Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison called the killer “an extremist, right-wing, violent terrorist.”

“The person giving a sign of allegiance to President Trump is the killer here,” said CNN’s John Berman. “He called him a symbol of white identity. The language he uses in this manifesto is all about invaders. It is all about invaders, similar to the killer at the synagogue in Pittsburgh and language President Trump used in a campaign ad before the midterm election. The word invader means something to people around the world.”

But CNN and the rest of the media have been extremely selective and misleading in their presentation of the killer’s manifesto.

To say that the killer gave his “allegiance to President Trump” is absurd. Under the headline “Were/are you a supporter of Donald Trump?”, Berman writes “As a policy maker and leader? Dear god no.”

He frequently uses the term invader, but his reason was an environmentalist one. “The environment is being destroyed by over population.” Did he hate minorities? He certainly did: “We Europeans are one of the groups that are not over populating the world. The invaders are the ones over populating the world. Kill the invaders, kill the overpopulation and by doing so save the environment.”

You certainly won’t find any of the media, including CNN, blaming environmentalists for the carnage at the mosques.

Trump’s views on immigration couldn’t be more different from the shooter’s. The killer doesn’t want any immigration, whereas Trump supports letting in unprecedented numbers of people through merit-based immigration.

The shooter wrote: “The nation with the closest political and social values to my own is the People’s Republic of China.” And the political figure with whom he most closely identifies? England’s Sir Oswald Mosley, who self-identified as a member of the “left” and proponent of “European Socialism.”

Ever encountered a right-winger who pontificates about the need for minimum wage increases and “furthering the unionization of workers”? Or who denounces “the ever increasing wealth of the 1% that exploit the people for their own benefit.” He goes on to declare that “conservatism is dead” and “global capitalist markets are the enemy of racial autonomists.” He called himself an “Eco-fascist.”

The media also conveniently ignores what the killer hoped to accomplish by his attack. He did it to help achieve “the removal of gun rights” for New Zealanders and Americans. And within a day, politicians in both countries were doing what he wanted. The New Zealand government has already promised a complete ban on semi-automatic guns. American gun control advocates such as Shannon Watts, founder of Moms Demand Action, quickly applauded the move and suggested that it is a model for United States lawmakers.

Of course, this isn’t the first time that mass public shooters have supported gun control. The Columbine school killers were also gun control advocates. . . .

My connection with New Zealand is through HAM Radio contacts (it’s the farthest place from home to send a radio wave) and a work project with Massey University. But suddenly their (potentially) quick and decisive government move to ban semi-automatic firearms is touted as a model for the USA. As did AUS, the NZ gov’t can take action within the heat-of-passion period following an event such as the tragic Christchurch Massacre. The blessing (when you’re opposed) and curse (when you’re in favor) of a government that can act so quickly is not the form of government we have in the USA. By design.

The killer’s lengthy manifesto has proven that he is a Pro-Trump Right-Extremist… No wait, he is a Pro-Socialist Environmental-Leftist… No wait…his goal was to pit every side against the other. He’s succeeding and lived to both bask in glory and be glorified by those who will model their plots on his rather than “old hat” mass killings like Columbine, Newtown or Parkland.

He is a diabolical psychopath that spent years devising a mass killing that went live-stream to the social media. He was the event actor, the reporter, the editor, producer and publisher/broadcaster. The first Socially Engineered Mass Killing.

NYT, the bastion of journalistic ethics, signaled within a day that the “No Notoriety” voluntary moratorium on focus towards the killer and the killing was waived in favor of the anti-Trump, anti-GOP, anti-NRA, anti-gun agenda. The rest of the media followed. Many senior journalists published not on the killer/killing, but on the media and mass killings, clearly lamenting their past role in Copycat “Contagion Syndrome” mass killings provoked by media glorification.

Our partisan divide is killing us – literally.

Well, I’m this case, if they are using the the term “right wing” in the European sense, they are right. In Europe, the left and right are not like here in the US. The right are socialists in the form of Facism. The left are socialists in the form of Communism. But…, we do know what the media is trying to do here. They want to tie Trump to the Klan and Neo Nazi groups. The problem with that, is this. The Klan, have been and always will he Democrat’s. By definition, they were the “enforcement” arm. The “brown shirts” of the DNC. That was their purpose at the time of their formation and their WERE officially listed in the Democratic party’s platform. And, the Neo Nazis, they are also socialist. They, by definition are “National Socialists”. The media have lost all integrity and credibility.
