I think this points to a reliability issue that is rarely addressed in public discourse. Gun control laws typically affect the carry / ownership of the most reliable segment of the population. Here in NC, the level of intrusiveness of the conceal carry application and renewal process is more aggressive than background checks done for teachers who ostensibly also have a higher felony conviction rate that conceal carry folks, as well.
