A gun-wielding good Samaritan brought a harrowing road rage incident to a safe end, reportedly stopping a driver who’d been racing through Massachusetts — with a 65-year-old man clinging to the hood of his SUV.

An unidentified person ordered Mark Fitzgerald, 37, at gunpoint out of his SUV, allowing Richard Kamrowski to climb down from the car unscathed, police said.

“The SUV driver ultimately came to a stop, we believe with the intervention of some good Samaritans, and was taken into custody by responding troopers,” Massachusetts State Police spokesman David Procopio said. . . .

A group of accused burglars walking out of a North Carolina home they’d allegedly just pilfered Sunday were met by an unexpected sight — a man pointing a gun at them.

Stephen Routh told FOX8 he watches over his parent’s home in Asheboro and headed over after receiving a call about some unusual people seen on the property.

Routh arrived just as the three suspects were trying to leave, using the home’s back door, and said he held the group at gunpoint while he was on the phone with 911 dispatchers. The entire incident, including Routh ordering the trio onto the ground, was captured on video.

A Spartanburg County woman who found suspected burglars rummaging through her deceased mother’s home is talking about the importance of protecting yourself in the home. 

Lydia Stewart told us she was armed and able to protect herself before police officers arrived.

“It’s something else when you come into a home and you didn’t know that somebody’s there, so we need to be ready,” Stewart said. “I can’t sleep at night. I’ve got stomach problems, but I’ll get over it and I’ll get on with my life.”

Stewart pulled the trigger on three intruders inside her deceased mother’s home on Monday evening.

Now, Carolyn Crocker and Amanda Tuck are behind bars. The third person, Wesley Anderson, is in the hospital after being shot in the leg by Stewart who had recently completed concealed weapons training. . . .

Friends and customers are praising the actions of an IHOP employee after he stopped the gunman who had just killed his dad.

Roderick Turner shot and killed IHOP employee, Roy Brown, inside the restaurant Wednesday night. Brown’s son then shot and killed Turner.

WAAY 31 spoke with people who say they are proud of Jay Brown for taking matters into his own hands before an already tragic situation could become even worse–saying he potentially saved a lot of lives.

“This is my favorite place to eat in Huntsville and everybody who knows me knows that,” said John Powell. . . .

A concealed-carry permit holder shot a man who authorities said was trying to rob him Thursday afternoon in north suburban Waukegan.

The 30-year-old Gurnee man told police he used the Letgo app to set up a meeting with 20-year-old Lawrence Dye, ostensibly to sell something to Dye, according to a statement from Waukegan police. When the man arrived at the meeting place about 1 p.m. near Fulton Street and 9th Avenue in Waukegan, Dye and another person tried to rob him.

“Dye pulled out a handgun and the victim, who has a concealed-carry permit, pulled out his own gun and fired three shots at Dye,” police said. Dye was hit in the leg and the other male suspect ran away. . . .

Chicago woman with concealed carry license shoots, kills robber:Police.

The woman was in the  500 block of West 103rd  Street in Chicago’s Fernwood neighborhood around 6 a.m. Tuesday.

The 25-year-old woman was standing at a corner, possibly waiting for a bus, when a man, armed with a weapon, tried to rob her. Police said she showed her weapon and then shot the man in the neck. He ran off but collapsed a block away in the 400 block of West 103rd Street. . . .

After making threats he allegedly discharged his firearm at the second man who in returned fire resulting in a fatal injury. After the shooting, the uninjured man called 911 and immediately surrendered to law enforcement when officers arrived on scene.

One person was critically injured in a shooting during an armed robbery in south Wichita on Friday afternoon, officials said.

Wichita police were called to the 2700 block of South Seneca at around 2:44 p.m. for a reported armed robbery, a Sedgwick County dispatch supervisor said. One shooting victim was taken to a hospital in critical condition, the supervisor said.

Lt. Chris Halloran said a customer at the checkout counter of the B and H Fast Trips convenience store shot at least one of four people trying to rob the store.

“A customer was in line when four individuals came in at gunpoint and demanded money,” he said. “The citizen also got robbed and the citizen pulled a gun and shot at the suspects.” . . .

Baton Rouge District Attorney Hillar Moore has reviewed most of the evidence concerning the shooting death of 18-year-old Kobe Johnson by an LSU football player during an armed robbery last Saturday.

And Moore agrees with Baton Rouge Police detectives. Whichever player shot Johnson to death — Clyde Edwards-Helaire or Jared Small — did it out of self defense.

“From what I know and what I have seen and heard, this is a totally justified shooting,” Moore said in a phone interview with the USA Today Network Friday afternoon. “From what I’ve been able to gather, and I was at the scene and in the interviews with the two players, it was totally justifiable under the circumstances.” . . .

Police says the shooter described the victim as being aggressive and threatening, and said he was in fear of his safety, which is why he fired. The shooter then called 911.

The manager of the laundromat says there was an argument outside the business, and then she heard the gunshots and called police.

“I heard the shooter say something like ‘back-up, get away,’ and I turned around and I heard a pop and somebody say ‘somebody got shot,’” the manager told Spectrum News reporter Greg Pallone.

The victim was shot in the leg and taken to the hospital. Police say he made similar statements, saying he was the aggressor.

No word on what the argument was about. Police say there will be no criminal charges. . . .
