14 Feb , 2018   Video

UPDATE: At least 17 people were killed in this horrible attack.

ORIGINAL POST: When will there be a serious discussion of the dangers of gun-free zones?  When will the media point out in their discussions of the guns used or how the guns were obtained that another attack occurred in a gun-free zone?

After listening to Senator Bill Nelson (D-FL) push for more gun control on Shepard Smith’s show on Fox News this afternoon, we decided to put up this post. Video above of when Senator Nelson made very similar comments later on during Special Report shortly after 6 PM EST.

Here is a listing of mass public shootings in Florida where at least four people have been killed.  All gun-free zones of these were places where general citizens are banned from having guns.  When will people realize that having a “marked” police officer on the scene isn’t going to stop these types of attacks?  It is an impossible job for officers in uniform.  We have made that point many, many times in the past. Our lastest post on the number of schools that have armed police officers is available here.

UPDATE: All afternoon, Senator Bill Nelson (D-Florida) was calling for more gun control.  The video above is for the second time that he was on Fox News shortly after 6 PM.  Regarding Senator Nelson’s claims about gun control, here is something that Dr. Lott had previously written up about the issues that Nelson raise regarding the terror watch list and other recent gun control proposals by Democrats.  Regarding the calls for dealing with mental illness, we had this previous write up. Note as we have made clear continually, the background checks on private transfers wouldn’t have stopped any of these attacks for at least the last couple of decades.

CNN is also pushing for a discussion on gun control.
