People legally carrying guns stop 22 attacks over last month, including capturing a MS-13 member who was fleeing police

These cases only involve instances where a civilian who is legally carrying a concealed handgun in public stops a criminal.

Dr. John Lott squared off against three gun control advocates (Lois Beckett, a reporter for The Guardian and a former reporter for the left wing ProPublica; Robert Spitzer, a political scientist at SUNY Cortland; and an officer from the Baltimore City Sheriff’s Department).  You get some idea where NPR is coming from given that their page for the show labels only Lott as “a gun rights proponent,” but provides no similar labels for the other guests.  …

According to the Crime Prevention Research Center, 20 other states allow firearms on Statehouse grounds in some fashion. Most allow average citizens to bring their firearms into the Statehouse. Only two states specifically restrict it to lawmakers and their staffs.

However, most publicly visible and large companies with a diverse set of employees don’t permit guns in the workplace, said Christopher Schrader, director of government affairs for Indiana State Council of Society of Human Resource Management.

Sheriff says that woman with permitted concealed handgun “thankfully saved” deputy sheriff’s life

A sheriff’s deputy was assaulted by a homeless man after the deputy had given the man a ride to try to help him out.  The deputy was in the process of giving the man some money when the deputy was attacked.  Fortunately, according to the Atlanta Constitution, a “bystander stopped her car and shot the suspect,” with her wounding him and saving the deputy sheriff’s life.  …
