National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers cites CPRC’s research in asking Supreme Court to hear case

Lawyers Jeffrey Green and C. Kevin Marshall on behalf of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers filed a Writ of Certiorari in a case of whether an officer can perform an “annoying, frightening, and perhaps humiliating”” frisk without assessing whether the individual was “presently dangerous.”  The parts of the brief that cite our research include:

Angry that the federal government cut funding to Chicago, Sen. New Public Health Study on Gun shows in Annals of Internal Medicine (also our discussion in the Washington Examiner)

 A new study from The Annals of Internal Medicine titled “In-State and Interstate Associations Between Gun Shows and Firearm Deaths and Injuries“

Results: Compared with the 2 weeks before, postshow firearm injury rates remained stable in regions near California gun shows but increased from 0.67 injuries (95% CI, 0.55 to 0.80 injuries) to 1.14 injuries (CI, 0.97 to 1.30 injuries) per 100 000 persons in regions near Nevada shows.
